The Holiday Inn Express Spokane Downtown consistently receives positive feedback for its friendly staff, convenient location, and comfortable accommodations. Guests appreciate the complimentary breakfast, cookies, and overall welcoming atmosphere, though some note occasional parking challenges and a few isolated incidents. The hotel's unique setting and attentive service contribute to a generally pleasant stay.
It was overall a good stay after check in. I had trouble checking in. My daughter and I arrived late due to long distance travel. My husband booked the room. The front desk clerk wouldn’t check us in until spoke with my husband to verify me. I had my passport, confirmation number and a picture of my husband’s passport. I still had to get my husband on the phone even though I had all the information plus we are IHG members and I’ve never had to do that before. It was annoying but after that we had a good stay.
I always love staying in IHG hotels, and the Holiday inn Express downtown Spokane is no exception! When we arrived in the evening, there was hot chicken noodle soup available in the lobby, as well as warm cookies, water and a coffee machine that grind your coffee and brews it fresh with the push of a button. The standard king room was clean and inviting, and had plenty of space. Would definitely stay here again!
I love my stay here every year. It’s really beautiful and the staff are friendly. Absolutely love that they serve cookies and little treats. Pretty balcony and views. Perfect walk from downtown. Only issue is that if you have an oversized vehicle you might be asked to park down the hill and some people might have a hard time with that walk
I had an incredible experience at Holiday Inn Spokane and that’s saying a lot considering my trip started off very chaotic. I accidentally booked my stay for the wrong date (and not just a day off…literally two weeks off) through Expedia. When I showed up to check in, I was stressed and fully expecting a headache. Instead, I was met by Charlie at the front desk, who was nothing short of amazing. She was patient, kind, and incredibly reassuring. She honestly made me feel like everything was going to be okay, even though this mix-up was completely my fault?but we live and we learn am I right? She stayed with me through the whole process while I dealt with Expedia (which took forever), and when it looked like I might not even get a refund, I just canceled and rebooked directly through the hotel. Charlie went above and beyond. She even applied a discount for guests visiting the animal eye clinic after I mentioned I was in town for my cat’s appointment. I truly wasn’t expecting to pay anything that day, and her help made a stressful situation so much easier. Speaking of my cat (Whitney) has separation anxiety, so I was nervous about leaving her alone and possibly getting noise complaints. Charlie reassured me that the staff would simply call me if there were any issues and that they completely understood. That level of compassion meant a lot. The hospitality didn’t stop there. That evening, they offered complimentary cookies and milk, and I swear it was exactly what I needed after a long day of driving. It made me feel so welcomed. The next morning, another staff member (I wish I caught his name?????) was just as kind. I mentioned how much I loved the Dove body wash they had, and he gave me one to take home for free. Completely unexpected and so appreciated. The hotel itself was great too; clean, welcoming, and the on-site gym was a nice bonus. Plus, complimentary breakfast? Always a win. I do want to name one uncomfortable experience during breakfast—not with staff, but with another guest. While I was simply trying to eat a banana before getting back on the road, I had trouble opening it from the stem and flipped it to peel from the bottom. A guest nearby commented that the way I was eating it “reminded her of a monkey.” As a Black woman, that comment carries a long and painful history, and it was upsetting to hear—especially in a moment where I was just minding my business and trying to get through what was already a stressful day. I don’t believe there was malicious intent, but that’s also part of the issue—there was no pause to consider how a comment like that might land or what it implies. Some things don’t need to be said out loud, especially when they echo harmful stereotypes. But I want to be very clear, that interaction had nothing to do with the hotel or its staff. If anything, the warmth and professionalism of the team made it clear that kind of behavior is not reflective of this space. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel enough. The staff went above and beyond in every way, and Charlie especially deserves recognition…seriously, give her a raise. 10/10 stay. If you’re in Spokane, especially for the animal eye clinic, this is the place to be. You will feel welcomed, supported, and taken care of.
Charlye managing the front desk welcomed me with so much hospitality, care, and true concern to make sure my entire stay would be perfect. She is remarkable and a light for all of us guests! I will come back just because she made me feel so cared for!
This hotel was very nice. It is up on a hill overlooking the downtown area. It's very centrally located to the Riverfront. I had a king suite and it was very spacious. You hear very little, if any, road noise. The employees were friendly and helpful. I also enjoyed the breakfast and free cookies. I would definitely stay here again.
Stayed on 1/14/26, at 2am I was woke up my my neighbors yelling. Not sure what was going on. I text the front desk as I wasnt sure what was going on and since they had signs saying how bad theft and crime was in Spokan I didnt want to go wondering around at 2am. The front desk never responded, so I eventually left around 2:30am knowing I wasn't going to get anymore sleep. I contacted customer support. They contacted the hotel, the hotel said they did get my text but were busy helping other guests. So apparently they did not have a single spare moment in the 5 hours between the time I text and contacted customer service. I was told I would get my points refunded but that had yet to be done. The hotel wasn't even close to full, not sure why you would but people right next to each other. Very disappointed in this IHG property, there customer service and how they handled situations. I did try and call the hotel directly, but a manager conveniently is never available.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean with comfortable beds. The free breakfast was great and our daughter loved the free nightly cookies and milk. It was also great to have a room that opens to the reserved parking spot right in front of the door.
Went to see a play in town recently, so it was really convenient to have only a 5 minute trip back to the room. It was quite close to many food options. My husband booked us the Gonzaga suite. 2 tvs, a comfortable bed, and multiple chairs around the second TV. The shower is quite large; more than enough room for two. There is a lip (~3 in.) into the shower, so be aware of that if you have mobility limitations. It does have a seat built in, but I'd recommend throwing a small towel down because it is cold tile. All around a lovely stay. Thank you, Maria for doing such a good job cleaning the room!
A wonderful experience!! The architecture of the hotel is quite impressive and everything is just lovely there. Special thanks to Paul who has made my stay in Spokane more joyful than ever!! He is so so kind and funny!
