The Ruby River Hotel offers a pleasant stay with a convenient location along the Spokane River and access to the Riverwalk. Guests consistently praise the friendly staff and clean rooms, particularly those with river views. However, some rooms suffer from noise issues due to thin walls, and occasional service hiccups have been reported.
I had a bit of a mixed experience here. First and foremost, the receptionist was extraordinary. She handled a very busy lobby and several waiting guests with incredible grace and professionalism during what most would consider a high-stress situation. She is a true asset to the team! Unfortunately, the physical building made it difficult to enjoy the stay. The walls and ceilings are paper-thin; I could hear every single footstep from the room above me from 2:00 AM to 4:00 AM, along with people coming and going throughout the night. I didn’t sleep a wink. If you are a heavy sleeper, the service alone makes this place worth it. But if you’re a light sleeper, you may want to bring heavy-duty earplugs or request a top-floor room. I’ll definitely return for business trips—but I’ll bring ear plugs.
Great location! We had a Fabulous room on the river side. The hot tub was outside near our room along with nice size pool ( which was closed during our stay due to winter). Building 3 has patios with seating for each room. The Osprey restaurant (on site) has good food, drinks and overlooking the river with outside Globes for dinner if preferred. There is also a path/boardwalk for walking to the Riverside Park in Spokane. Lots of parking.
Such a beautiful hotel. Clean rooms. Amazing location. Find feel so homie. Have many different outside doors. Gym. Vending machine always full. Quiet hallways. Staff is a little behind of online buys. They kept trying to get in even though we paid for the room for another night.
When we travel to Spokane it's usually a medical related trip and decidedly NOT fun, however staying at Ruby River turns lemons into lemonade for our family. The pool has GREAT accessibility for those with mobility issues. They've got a nice little playground my kiddos really enjoy with a fenced 2nd "deep end" pool. (This will be an infinity pool this summer though and kids are excited to see that!) The front desk people are always so kind. The rooms are always clean. It's very close to riverfront park and part of the Riverwalk is right outside the hotel. Very decent, family friendly hotel.
This review is from my review that I wrote on fido.com for our stay here last night. We stayed with our medium-size dog, so this review might be most helpful for pet-owners :) We stay in Spokane 1-2 times a year because of the airport. This was my first time booking the room, and two things I knew I wanted: a place where my dog could easily walk and free parking (we've always had an issue finding parking when we arrive which isn't fun with luggage and a dog :). This place was great - the rooms were large with plenty of space for a dog bed and area to set up food and water, luggage, etc. I called after booking because of a hiccup when we booked on fido.com and asked how much it would be to upgrade to the river-front room but decided (since we were paying in Canadian and the exchange rate is not great for us) to stick with the basic view. The lady on the phone was so cheerful and helpful. I was surprised when we arrived and she had upgraded us for free, I imagine because they had the availability and she wanted to make our first stay a good one. We could walk right out onto the river walk trail and greenspace. Our dog liked the big glass doors that opened onto the green space - that helped keep him entertained. The rooms were clean and felt like they were updating as they can, which I appreciated. For me, things don't need to be ultra-modern, as long as I can see the hotel is keeping things clean & replacing/updating things as needed. I liked that they sent a little text before our stay welcoming us and asking if there was anything we needed before we arrived. A few things I would have liked: 1. Since there were two of us, two drink vouchers would have been nice (they have non-alc incl on the voucher, for those of us who don't drink) but also, there was no expectation of vouchers at all so having one was also a nice gesture. If we had had two, though, we would have likely gone down together and gotten something to eat, too. 2. I would love to see the floors non-carpeted. I know floors can be cold without carpet but also, knowing it's a resort where dogs are happily welcomed, bare floors would help it mentally "feel" that extra bit more sanitary (our interior room was very clean! I just like bare floors in hotels). 3. The pillows are VERY thick. For being so thick, they are still soft, but not enough for me as a back sleeper so I had to adjust throughout night. Next time, I'll bring my own pillow. It would be great if hotels would always offer two sizes of pillows in their bedding since several pillows are always in the beds anyway. I've found this same issue in the other three hotels we've stayed at in Spokane so maybe the town just caters to side sleepers with broad shoulders who need that extra support ;) There's a cute coffee shop(s) with breakfast and cozy vibes just a quick walk (quicker drive) across the bridge which was the only concern I had with staying here (we usually stay on the other side of the river in an area where the breakfast was just a block away, but this was so easy to get to that I didn't mind at all). Oh, and it was really quiet! We both decided this is our go-to stay now in Spokane. We usually stay downtown and this was the easiest stay we've had.
Things were seemingly great when we checked in till we went to go take a shower. IT WAS GROSS! There was a slime or mold or god knows what all over the shower walls. It was coming off the walls as the water was running off, looking like dirt on the floor. Staff answer was to send someone to clean it...and they were quick to have someone come in and clean it...it was done well enough that I didn't feel dirtier in the shower than out of it... but wasn't what I'd call clean. Then, randomly both mine and my girlfriends key quit working, locking us outside. The front desk issued us new keys... Then when we and another couple went to go to the hot tub at 10 pm. We were told we had to leave cause it now closes at 10 even though the web site advertised an11pm closure time. Ending impressions of the hotel... Less than pleased. The restaurant.... the restaurant was great! Food was delicious! Staff was great! 10/10! Best thing about the experience at the hotel.
This hotel is located along the Spokane River right downtown and is a centrally located for a walk along the Centennial Trail or shopping or eating downtown. The service was great, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I was impressed by the front desk and restaurant service. I spent New Years there and had a wonderful visit. I'll return again!
We stayed overnight after their fantastic New Year's Eve party with live music by the incomparable 10 pc soul/rock band, Soul Proprietor. Every detail was considered, party favors, lots of great snacks during the party and a champagne toast at the end of the night. A huge screen brought NY's Times Square ball drop to us live. The decor of the lobby and rooms is very pleasant and upscale. Great food and drinks in the restaurant/bar with a wonderful location on the river with views of walkers and bikes on the Centennial trail. I just can't say enough good things!
Can't find a single thing to complain about. Staff are friendly from the front desk staff to the restaurant staff. The shuttle driver was great and friendly. Room was very clean and the view from our room was relaxing. The hot tub was very clean and comfortable. Osprey restaurant food and drinks are a bit pricey but very good. Will recommend for sure.
This was our second stay at Ruby River. The rooms are very clean and updated. The location is right on the river walk and close to Gonzaga. Great pool and hot tub. They no longer have coffee in the lobby but give you a drink ticket for either a beer, wine or coffee instead. There is also a Keurig type coffee maker in the room with 2 decaf and 2 regular coffee (but only a total of two sugar and creamer packets). I would recommend staying here, but on this trip, we had a few issues. Our bed was missing the fitted sheet. We wanted to lay down a bit before going out, but had to deal with the sheet issue. We asked the front desk to have house keeping put on a bottom sheet (the top sheet was directly on the mattress pad). They said they would take care of it right away and offered an additional drink ticket to use while we waited (one ticket for two of us. - we asked and got a second). We went to have a beer at the bar and since it was busy we had to stand at the bar (although there was an employee having her shift drink taking up two stools right next to us). The bartender was not very good. I could barely get his attention and then he never looked at us again for the next 30 minutes. We went back to the room finally and the sheet was still not fixed. Back to the front desk and asked the same host about the situation. She seemed confused and we had to explain the situation again (I would think missing a sheet would stick out in your mind). She then called housekeeping again and told them we wanted an extra sheet added. ahh - no - not an extra sheet, just the fitted sheet that was missing. No apology or anything for the wait. We left and came back a few hours later and they had put the sheet on. The first host to check us in was great and I hope the bartender and second host were just a fluke.
